I'm thrilled you're here.
I was born and raised in the Englewood community on the South Side of Chicago. I grew up when fire hydrants kept us cool in the summer, you had to be home when the streetlights came on; payphones were still on street corners, Officer Friendly came to the class to speak to kids, fast food was a luxury because grandmothers literally cooked everything, and kids physically went outside to play with friends.
My love for kids and education begins with my own family. I am a wife and mother of ten amazing children, yes, ten that I gave birth to. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. Yep, and we are still together! 😍
My love also extends to the children in my community, which is why I was the boys and girls high school track coach, little league team mom, and was an elected Local School Council Advisory Board member; and am Parent When I am not working, I love reading, writing, watching movies and spending quality time with my husband. And 25 years later, our passion and love for children, and deep desire and commitment to leave the world much better than we found it, sustains us and keeps us engaged in this work.
